You are encouraged to read through the entire listing of Frequently Asked Questions, however we have also made it very easy to find a specific question by scanning the questions at the top of the list, and if you click on the question, the link will take you directly to the question and answer in the list. Try both ways.
At the main screen, in the "Log In to my Account box", click Forgot Password link, and follow the instructions.
You can access your profile at any time by going to the "My Kitchen" drop down menu, and selecting "My Profile", which allows you to change your personal information including your email address, user name, and password. Note: You can only have one user name per email address.
“My Kitchen” is your home. Your “My Kitchen” view will look different from another member’s “My Kitchen” view. The “My Kitchen” view defaults to “My Recipes” which show all of your recipes – Private and Public. Other views include “Recently Added” which shows all recently added public recipes which may include yours. “Saved” displays list of recipes saved by you but created by other members. Use this function when you want to change a recipe to fit your needs. There is no need to save a recipe unless you want to change it.
Go to the “My Kitchen” drop down menu and select Add Recipe. A form displays with all the fields necessary for creating a recipe. All fields with asterisks are required.
Recipe (required) – Name of the recipe. It cannot be a duplicate of an existing recipe name. You can add your name to the recipe or a number after it.
Serving Quantity (required) – How many servings does this recipe make? It must be a whole number and only numbers. It cannot be a range. We suggest you use the lower number of the range and note in the first or last line of directions that this recipe feeds 4-6 or whatever the range may be. This also goes for recipes that yield an amount like “makes 2 cups.” Make your best estimate on the servings and note in the first or last line of directions that the recipe makes 2 cups.
Preparation Time and Cook Time (optional) – Should be entered in HH:MM (H=hour; M=minute). If it takes 30 minutes, enter :30 or 30. If 1 hour, enter :60 or 60 or 1:00.
Private or Public (required) – The default is Private which means only you and Chef Lisa can view the recipe. Public status requires that you submit the recipe to Admin Review, one of the choices at the bottom of the screen. You can Save or Save and New the recipe if you want to wait before submitting to Chef Lisa. Recipe becomes pending but is still private.
Recipe Category (required) – Select from the drop down menu: Appetizer, Dessert, Main Dish, Salads, Side Dish, Soup.
Description (required) – A short description of the recipe. The Search function looks at this field.
Source (required) – We want to make sure we are not posting recipes that you obtained from other sources without giving credit. If you made a few changes to the recipe to make it your own, please state that you adapted it or were inspired by the source. If it’s an original, then put your name on it.
Nutrition (optional) – If you know the nutritional information, please add it. This field is currently free form.
Tags (required) – Tags are keywords that the search function looks at to help find recipes. The search function does not look at the list of ingredients so tags are necessary. An example of good tags for a recipe: Creamy Pasta and Sausage with Spinach - Tags: pasta, sausage, Italian, vegetable, spinach, dairy, tomato, ground meat, cheese, parmesan, pork, stovetop Note: Be sure to separate tags with commas.
Recipe Image (optional) – If you have a picture of your recipe, please upload it. If you don’t, the Orange Pomegranate logo will be default as the picture. If you recipe has been published and then you want to add a picture later, you’ll have to send the image to Chef Lisa at support@orangepomegranate.com to do it.
Recipe Video (optional) – If you have a video of you making the recipe, please upload it to Vimeo. Copy and paste the url into this field. If your recipe has been published and then you want to add a video later, you’ll have to send the url to Chef Lisa at support@orangepomegranate.com to do it
When entering ingredients, try using the ingredient that pops up when typing if appropriate. It is already defined to the database for help in a drill down search and shopping list location. If it is not a good fit for your recipe, type it in. Chef Lisa periodically reviews unclassified ingredients and defines them. You can save a private recipe without ingredients in case you need to come back to finish it. If you edit this to make it public, you will need at least one ingredient.
Directions – This is a freeform field. Consider each “line” as a step or paragraph of your recipe. Please do not put a long recipe in one line as that makes it hard to follow.
A private recipe is one you don’t wish to share with other Orange Pomegranate members. You and Chef Lisa are the only ones that can see that recipe. When you add a recipe, the default is private. A public recipe is one you wish to share. In order to make a recipe public, you must select the Public option when adding or updating/editing a recipe. Chef Lisa must approve the recipe in order for it to be shared. When you are ready for the recipe to go public, choose Admin Review when updating or adding a recipe.
You must first determine the status of your recipe in “My Kitchen”? * If the status is Pending, you haven't submitted it to Chef Lisa for review yet. Edit your recipe and select the Admin Review button at the bottom of the screen. * If the status is Admin Review, Chef Lisa hasn't finished the review process yet. It may take up to 48 hours to review the recipe and approve it for Public use. * If the status is Private, edit your recipe and select the Public option. Then go to the bottom of the Edit screen and select the Admin Review button.
Recipe Name, Tags, and Recipe Description. Currently the search does not look through ingredients.
From any view of a recipe you have an option to Add To Meal Plan – Search, My Recipes, Recently Added, and Preview. You do not need to save a recipe to add it to your meal plan. Public recipes cannot be changed so you can be assured that the recipe will always be the same. Once you Add To Meal Plan, you must select the meal type (breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, snack) and date.
If you want to change your existing meal plan(s), go to the “My Kitchen” drop down menu and select “Manage Meal Plan”. From here you can delete recipes, change meal types, and change dates.
If you are seeing the "What is Orange Pomegranate?" video, it's because that is the default video that is associated with every recipe, if another video doesn't exist for that particular subject yet. This is normal, and will change as we add more video content.
You can visit the Orange Pomegranate Channel on Vimeo by either clicking the Resources/Vimeo link in the header of the page, or by visiting Vimeo directly.
There are several reasons – the most important being that other users may have added your recipe to their meal plans. By you changing it, the recipe may no longer fit their requirements. If you see an error in the directions and the recipe should be changed, contact Chef Lisa at support@orangepomegranate.com listing the recipe name and changes. If you want to change the recipe to change ingredients, it would be best to create a new recipe. You can save the recipe from the options listed under a recipe from “Search”, “My Recipes”, and “Preview”. You’ll just have to change the recipe name and then edit the recipe which will default to Private. If you want to make this recipe Public, select the Public option when updating/editing the recipe. Chef Lisa must approve the recipe in order for it to be shared. When you are ready for the recipe to go public, choose Admin Review when updating the recipe. Finally, Orange Pomegranate tries to prevent inappropriate language, pictures, and videos from being added to recipes that have been approved for access to all members. As such, all published recipes must be approved by Chef Lisa.
Our internet host provider periodically checks for session inactivity, and will reset connections, causing you to be disconnected from your session. We really have no control over this, but are looking into improvements that we can apply in the very near future.
There are two really easy ways to get help. 1) You can join our Facebook Fanpage, and ask any questions that you want. One of the Administrators or maybe even a community member should be able to answer your question. 2) You can send an email to support@orangepomegrante.com, and someone will respond to you as soon as possible.
